Monitor Bitcoin infrastructure

Choose useful signals, actionable alerts and a clear response process.

Monitoring should help an operator decide what to do. A dashboard without ownership or a response procedure is an incomplete operating system.

01 / Start with the service

Identify what customers and applications depend on: invoice creation, node synchronization, event delivery or a query API. Define indicators that reflect those dependencies.

02 / Collect a small useful set

Track node state, connectivity, storage and relevant application errors. Record the source, units and update interval for each metric. Redact credentials and sensitive customer data from logs.

03 / Attach a response

Every alert needs an owner, severity, investigation steps and an escalation route. Set thresholds from your own workload and service objectives; example numbers are not evidence of achieved performance.

04 / Learn from incidents

Review whether alerts were useful and whether the runbook matched reality. Tune noise, document missing signals and practice the response before the next incident.
